Located in the heart of Wan Chai near Queen's Road East, The Archive, Hong Kong is an old tenement building re-designed to accommodate both serviced apartments as well as a non-profit community art space named Wan Chai Visual Archive.
It is an exploration of how one turns a spent building, standing amidst some of the most interesting monuments in historic Wan Chai, into comfortable accommodation for many while asserting itself as a respectful member of the evolving neighbourhood. We attempt to transcend the mere physical into a space sprinkled with vibrant happenings that is the essence of urban living. The ubiquitous tenement building, once a collection of separate living quarters, is given a new life as a collective hub of rigorous sharing of ideas, lifestlyles and culture, as well as a home with modern amenities.
